Morogoro Honeybee Center
The Assurance Capital Partners team will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro “the roof of
Africa” from September 18 – 26 to raise money for the Provision Charitable Foundation (PCF) Morogoro Honeybee Center in Tanzania.
Our team has committed to raising $75,000 to ensure this project is a success.
We want to thank Trevor and Dixie Jones and the Jones Family Foundation for agreeing to match every dollar donated up to $75,000. Now every $1 donated provides $2 towards the Honeybee Center!
Why Beekeeping/Honey Processing?
Beekeeping is a “transformational” project as defined by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the United Nations. The United Nations Development Program specifically notes bees as being crucial to the goals of no poverty (Goal 1), no hunger (Goal 2), decent work (Goal 8), climate action (Goal 13), and biodiversity (Goal 15).
Honey Processing Center is a sustainable project!
Beekeeping is an excellent opportunity for women to participate and become more economically independent. Once the processing center is operational, even two hives maintained by a single family can make a significant difference in the quality of life for the family. Beekeeping requires very little land and the Tanzanian government has provided access to land reserves for beekeepers. Tanzania has set aside and is managing 506 natural forest reserves for beekeeping.
Where will our donations go?
100% of your donations will go toward the Morogoro Honeybee Center. Funds will be used to
support local farmers in the following ways:
● Beekeeping training by local experts in the Morogoro region
● Upfront equipment investment to establish hives
● Honey processing center to ensure farmers receive fair trade value for honey
● Hiring knowledgeable staff at the processing center to support the farmer network
● Processing and packaging equipment
The honeybee center will be managed by Provision Charitable Foundation’s NGO in Tanzania.
All future profits from the center will be returned to the Morogoro region helping to ensure this program will have a long-term positive impact on the lives of Tanzanian people. Provision Charitable Foundation is a registered Canadian charity. All donations over $20.00 will receive an official donation receipt. 100% of your donation will go towards the Honeybee Center. All trip expenses are covered by climbers.
